The thermostat is about 2 years old. The engine sometimes runs hot while idling. But if I rev it or drive it usually returns to normal. Since there is no heat at all, that opens the door for more possible solutions aside from the option they have given you. 1. You could have an air pocket in your coolant line. The air pocket prevents the normal flow thus no circulating coolant and no hot air.
